1 · Define the decision
- Decision point
- When should the line release a part, stop, or send it to a human review queue?
- Data flow
- Work order/part ID → image or sensor signal at the station → an explainable result for review.
- Existing systems to connect
- PLC, MES, QMS and the line's existing screen (confirm model and protocol on site).
- Decision owner
- Quality and process engineering together; IT/OT approves the connection.
- Constraints to verify
- Lighting, changeovers, belt speed and traceability rules must be measured before choosing an approach.
2 · Pilot a bounded scope
- Decision point
- Choose one station, one work type and an acceptance rule the floor team reads the same way.
- Data flow
- Labelled samples → processing inside the agreed boundary → human confirmation queue → versioned record.
- Existing systems to connect
- Start with an export or test endpoint from the current system; do not write into MES/QMS first.
- Decision owner
- The process owner signs acceptance; operations records exceptions.
- Constraints to verify
- A pilot is not a customer guarantee; do not publish a KPI without a reproducible method.
3 · Prepare to operate
- Decision point
- Who may change a threshold, roll back a model, or stop the system when data is abnormal?
- Data flow
- Line event → log/alert → named owner → remediation evidence and the next review.
- Existing systems to connect
- Existing alerting and the runbook remain the source of truth; do not create an ownerless dashboard.
- Decision owner
- The production lead decides on the floor; IT/OT owns runtime and access.
- Constraints to verify
- Lighting, camera maintenance and model drift need named work in the real go-live plan.
